Cash-flow pressures trucking companies often face

Freight revenue arrives weeks after the load is delivered, while fuel, driver pay, insurance and truck payments are due now. A repair, a slow-paying broker or a new unit to add can strain cash even in a busy season.

What owners use financing for

  • Add or replace a tractor or trailer
  • Cover fuel, insurance and repairs between payments
  • Bridge slow-paying freight brokers and shippers
  • Expand into new lanes or add a second truck

What lenders usually look at

  • Monthly revenue and deposit history
  • Time in business and credit profile
  • Equipment type, age and value when the financing is equipment-backed
  • Receivables aging for brokered freight

Each lender sets its own requirements. Typical working capital programs also look for at least 6 months in business, regular deposits into a Canadian business bank account and roughly $10,000 or more in monthly revenue.

How lenders read the financials of a trucking company

Lenders start with bank deposits. Steady weekly deposits, consistent fuel and insurance expenses and a clear picture of receivables carry more weight than a perfect credit score; the lenders we work with consider credit scores of 500 and up.

Xito is an intermediary, not a lender: we review your situation, introduce independent lenders and explain what each option costs in total.

    What Xito does

Xito is not a lender. We introduce businesses to independent lenders and funding providers.

We review your numbers, explain your options and introduce you to lenders whose programs fit. The lender, not Xito, makes the credit decision and sets the terms.

    Who you will deal with

Xito Capital Partners is a Calgary-based advisory firm led by Andrew Apedoe, with a background in valuation and investment banking. Many clients come to us before a sale, a refinancing or a lender review.

    Common questions from trucking companies

Can an owner-operator get truck financing?

Often, yes, depending on time in business, revenue, deposits and the equipment. Lenders we work with consider credit scores from 500, though approval and pricing vary by lender.

    Is a down payment required?

It depends on the lender and the equipment. Some programs may ask for one; we explain the total cost of each option before you decide.

How fast can I find out?

Approval decisions can come within 24 hours once we have your application and bank statements. Funding timing depends on the lender and the type of financing.
